Speed drawings are so so cool
Posted on March 11th, 2009 No comments
How would you like to see Jigsaw drawn in real time only 5 times faster? It’s amazing when you watch these kind of videos. You can’t help, but wonder how the heck do those guys do it. And it is pretty cool how they create these kinds of artwork.
However when it comes to speed painting, when you really think about it, all of it is just a trick. You don’t have to be an amazing artist to recreate what speed painters create in 5 minutes on video. You could be just an intermediate at drawing, spend a few more hours than the speed painter did and you’ll get the same result. The only difference between you and the speed painter is that he uses video to his advantage.
I sort of went off topic there. I paint/draw and the first few times I watched speed painting videos I got really intimidated. I though that I could never learn to draw.
Back to the video it’s still really good. The artwork and the process itself are unique. Keep it up!

The hardship of picking manga

Manga is one of the hardest styles of art judge, in my opinion. As with anything one must judge something using a criteria and with manga, it’s rather blurry. Quality is one of the basic criteria when deliberating on a drawing, however in the case of manga its hard to distinguish an average artwork from a masterpiece. An exception would be the above Lemon Suck. If one takes a look at it, it’s rather more or less plain, yet it attracts the eye with some extreme invisible force. With the most manga one can come across the subject usually looks dead, as if the human being was drawn after the life was sucked out of it. However in the case of Lemon Suck, she looks as if she was a real person from a real 3 dimensional world. Her eye’s are magical, in a way that they stun you and glue your own eye’s to her rainbow color filled orbs.

Kenji by Fort Minor

Many know Fort Minor by his most popular song Remember the Name. Before I heard it I though Loose yourself by Eminem was the best song ever to be rapped.
Kenji is very has very unusual lyrics for a rap song. First off, it’s about the events that happened wuring WWII to Japanese people in US.
I had it on my ipod for a while now, but what triggered me to write about it is the presentation my classmates did in my history class the other day. They talked about the “enemy aliens” during WWII. They played Kenji at the end of their presentation. Every single fact that was in the song was in their presentation.
If I was told that there was a rap song about history I would assume that its sh.. bad. But Kenji, as a rap song would be about 4/5.

[Sorry for the bad quality. It's due to the scaling. View the image in full size]
I was going through the new images at deviant art and I saw this one.
It didn’t catch my eye for the quality itself, but for the concept.
It sort of reminded me of how Americans live nowadays. If you think about it its horrible. No wonder so many of us have disorders.
We spend enormous amounts of time surrounded by technology. We become lazy because of it. And we forget how to do so many things because of it. I used to be able to multiply 3 digit numbers in my head, but since I started using a calculator I sometimes forget my tables.
And the scary part: its everywhere. There is no escape.
Who knows maybe Sarah Connor was right after all.
BTW Terminator Salvation is coming out on May 22nd. I’m defiantly going to see it.

There are many artist nowadays who just aren’t talented at all, but still upload their images to websites such as deviantart.com. Those drawings are like kindergarteners’ doodles. It’s sort of disgusting.
Felsus is defiantly on the other side of the scale. Looking at this image, the first thing that comes to mind is WOW!
Everything just flows together. The great detail and the wonderful concept. Her face is just beautiful (and I’m not a fan of manga). The figure is just perfect. There’s great detail on the metal objects; the robe is draw in a way that it looks like it flows like water.
The background is very simple. It lets the viewer focus on the woman rather than anything else; yet it adds much depth.
The only criticism I can put in this post is that some parts need a little more blending (ex. lower leg).
And that’s it for today. Comments are greatly appreciated.

Coldplay - Scientist
Posted on March 7th, 2009 No commentsSong: Scientist
Band: Coldplay
Rating: 4/5
I was looking for piano music for viva la vida but all I found was this song.
Sounds great on piano, especially the left hand. Here’s the link for the just the piano. And here’s the link for the sheet music.
When I actually listened to the song, it wasn’t that great, but still good. It was sort of too slow for me. I’m more of the hard rock/metal guy.

The idea
Posted on March 7th, 2009 No commentsWell…
This blog is an attempt at creating a website about art of any kind. From artwork to music.
It’s also an attempt at making money.
If this blog takes off, I’ll make a website (a really good one).
Ok. So that’s the reason for creating this blog.
Here’s what is for.
It’ll be mostly a review site.
If I find good songs, or see great artwork I’ll post it here and I’ll say something about it.
And you’re welcome to do the same.
And that’s the basic idea.
Any comments are welcome.
